The switch by Australian companies to Internet ordering systems is being driven by customer demand. Dowd Corporation, for example, which supplies corporate apparel, made the change because the requirements of its customers, which include National Australia Bank, Westpac Bank and Australia Post. Electronic procurement generally is becoming more widespread. In addition, Australian companies are turning to third-party logistics suppliers to organise ordering and distribution, sharing information electronically on a level not seen previously.
